California Tankhaulers Get Better Benefits

February 26, 2003

Locals 287 and 315 in California successfully re-opened and negotiated the health and welfare portion of the contract for about 65 Teamster tankhaul drivers. As a result, the workers are paying less on certain medical benefits.

“Those benefiting from this are the Conoco-Phillips drivers and plant workers from Richmond to San Jose, California,” said Bob Blanchet, Business Agent and Organizer with Local 287.

Blanchet worked with Bill Buccellato, a Business Agent with Local 315, to get the changes for the workers. The changes were re-negotiated on February 20 and the changes will be implemented on March 1, 2003.
