Charges Filed on Auto Truck Transport

December 19, 2003

Teamster local unions have filed coordinated unfair labor practice charges against Auto Truck Transport Corporation (ATT), telling the National Labor Relations Board that the company violated workers’ legal right select the Teamsters as their bargaining representative.

“Management has used classic anti-Teamster tactics, including threats to terminate jobs and benefits, while offering to improve working conditions and expedite grievance processing—all to frustrate workers’ desire to organize with the Teamsters,” said Doc Conder, Director of Teamsters Automotive Transporters Industry Division.

The company also threatened that it would refuse to negotiate a contract with the Teamsters, should the employees elect the Teamsters as their representative.

The affected facilities include Cleveland, North Carolina; Mt. Holly, North Carolina; Macungie, Pennsylvania; Garland, Texas; and Laredo, Texas.
