To keep Teamster CSAs at US Airways informed of the
latest developments of negotiations and other workplace issues, the Teamsters
Union has established a toll-free hotline, 800-208-3089. Below is a transcript
of the latest message.
Negotiations, Seamless Service, Rumored Merger Updates,
Magazine Arriving
Additional meetings to work toward permanent resolution of
outstanding issues concerning Articles 5, 6 and 7 of our
collective bargaining agreement are scheduled for December 21 in
Charlotte, North Carolina. Then, representatives from the Teamsters Union, the
Communications Workers of America (CWA) and US Airways will meet to discuss
issues that are outstanding from
earlier meetings.
We are hoping for a positive outcome and will report back
with the results of the meeting.
Seamless Service
Please be aware that the Teamsters have secured an agreement
concerning the Seamless Service provisions.
As these provisions are introduced, Teamster-represented
former America West stations will not be forced to schedule shifts in accordance
with the five-day workweek specified in Article 5 of the collective bargaining
agreement. This will be the case until Operational Employee Integration or
mutual consent of the parties is achieved.
We have received questions concerning this agreement from
CWA-represented stations that are former America West stations. This agreement
does not apply to these stations. Questions regarding this should be forwarded
to your CWA representative.
Rumored Merger Closely Watched
The Teamsters and the CWA await additional information from
US Airways regarding the company’s proposed takeover of Delta Air Lines.
Once we have this information, we will determine if this
move would be in the best interests of US Airways CSAs. Should a merger occur,
the Teamsters and CWA will fight to ensure that your and all CSAs’ interests are
fully represented and protected.
We will provide more information as it becomes available.
