Economic Issues Coming Soon
June 6, 2007
Contract negotiations for the 125 drivers and dockworkers at
UPS Freight in Indianapolis resume the week of June 18, and economic issues are
expected to be on the table soon.
The negotiating committee last met during the week of April
16.
Union leaders said they are looking forward to resuming
talks and continuing to make progress toward a strong contract. Talks have
paused at UPS Freight to accommodate negotiations for the national UPS contract,
which involves complex health, welfare and pension issues.
The union’s goal is to negotiate a contract in Indianapolis
that would serve as a national model to organize the nearly 300 other UPS
Freight terminals across the country.
