Chicago Stewards Attend Training

Joint Council 25 in Chicago held its annual Fall stewards training program on September 26.

In just four years, more than 500 stewards have attended these trainings that the Joint Council traditionally holds on the last Saturday of each September.  The Joint Council, under the leadership of President John Coli, also provides between six and eight trainings each year for business agents and elected officers on a variety of topics.

This year’s steward seminar focused on Weingarten Rights, the proper way of handling contract violations and discipline grievances, and the overall role and responsibility of a Teamster steward.

“We are very pleased at the participation level of our affiliates and their enthusiastic stewards who come to these trainings,” said Brian Rainville, Joint Council 25 Executive Director and LEARN Coordinator. “It has become clear that this training service we provide, in cooperation with the Teamsters Training and Development Department, is a service that is widely accepted and broadly used. And we are proud to offer it.”
