Teamsters Oppose NY Tax Subsidies For VWR To Destroy Jobs

Richard Lipsitz, political affairs director of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 46 in Buffalo, asked COMIDA to review and terminate incentive agreements with Ward's Natural Science in Henrietta.

He said the company is shifting jobs from its facilities in Tonawanda to Henrietta because of tax abatements granted by COMIDA.

"Ward's has committed to creating only seven jobs in Henrietta," said Lipsitz. "Forty-one workers in Tonawanda will lose their jobs as this work is shifted to taxpayer-subsidized Henrietta."

A call to Ward's facility in Henrietta was not immediately returned.

COMIDA board president Theresa Mazzullo said the board would look into the request.
