Everything's Sweet at Honeywell

Secretary-Treasurer James Holte of Teamsters Local 1145 in St. Paul, Minnesota announced in early December that Teamsters at Honeywell International approved a new contract covering members at more than 15 plants in the Twin Cities area.

As a January 31 deadline approached, Local 1145 worked steadfastly to iron out an agreement that made strong gains for workers. Teamsters at Honeywell earn between $10 and $25 an hour.

The new five-year contract was approved with nearly 90 percent support of the nearly 1,700 Teamsters who voted on the contract.

"The mood in the plants now? They're happy,” said Genaro Ayala, President of Local 1145. “They got a helluva contract.”

The contract also includes a:

  • 21 percent immediate pension increase;
  • 15 percent wage increase spread over five years;
  • 401(k) matching plan;
  • $750 early settlement bonus;
  • Continuation of existing medical benefits which stipulates 100 percent coverage, no co-pay, or deductible.
