Freight Drivers At Land Air Express Join Local 375

Thirty-Three Workers Vote For A Voice On The Job

Thirty-three freight drivers at Land Air Express of New England voted to join Teamsters Local 375 in Buffalo, N.Y. last week, winning a true voice in the workplace.

The drivers approached Local 375 in Dec. 2010, seeking a partner to help address issues on the job including improving safety rules and health care benefits.

“The biggest problem we have is with our benefits package, they are unacceptable,” said Mike Potla, who has worked as a driver for Land Air Express for the past three years. “Now that we have joined the Teamsters, I know our voice will be heard.”

Kevin Drysdale, Secretary-Treasurer for Local 375 is looking forward to working with the unit to help improve their working conditions.

“We are looking forward to welcoming our newest members and getting started on securing them a new contract,” Drysdale said. “They were a dedicated and motivated group with real issues in the workplace and we are looking forward to securing a strong first contact for the group.”
