GCC Convention Opens in Las Vegas

The Graphic Communications Conference of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters opened their second convention today in Las Vegas. More than 200 delegates are attending the GCC convention from across the United States and Canada.

This is the second convention since the Graphic Communications International Union members voted to merge with the Teamsters in 2006.

“We have a lot of work to do during our convention,” said George Tedeschi, President of the Graphic Communications Conference and Teamsters International Vice President. “Since our merger in 2006, we have benefited greatly by being part of the Teamsters Union. The Teamsters, due to their size and expertise, have helped us with organizing projects, administrative support and other needs. We will consider resolutions over the next few days which will guide us into the future.”

Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa was one of the opening speakers, telling delegates that the union is firmly committed to supporting labor friendly candidates in the 2012 election and stopping the War on Workers being waged by billionaires and CEOs across the country.

“We all have to join in this battle and stop the War on Workers,” Hoffa said. “Everyone here needs to be politically active. So, march in rallies, support only those candidates that support working families and let our collective, strong voice be heard.”
