George Miranda Named to Board of the Global Gateway Alliance

George Miranda, International Vice President and Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters Local 210, is joining the Board of Directors of the Global Gateway Alliance, an industry coalition dedicated to improving airports in the New York-New Jersey metropolitan area. The group named Miranda to its Board citing his many years as a strong labor leader serving Teamsters in New York and throughout the airline industry.

“This is an important opportunity to bring the voice of labor and Teamsters to a powerful industry alliance,” Miranda said. “Airline workers, including Teamsters and other union members, must have a say in the policies and challenges affecting our airports.”

Miranda joins 13 other GGA Board members who are leaders in the business, labor, government and academic communities of the region. The organization was founded earlier this year to address challenges facing airports and related infrastructure in New York City and its surrounding areas.

Miranda hopes to use his role in GGA to develop solutions that benefit both business and workers at area airports, as well as promote good jobs throughout the region.

“Tackling the challenges that face the region’s airports should be a collective goal. Its benefits will help not only business, but workers as well. Improving our airports will result in considerable growth for the region and thousands of good jobs. I look forward to working with everyone involved to make sure that the New York metropolitan area continues to be the world’s top travel destination,” Miranda said.

Along with overall airport modernization, Miranda will be focused on improvements to cargo operations at the airports.
