Hoffa Statement on Possible Nomination of LaHood as Transportation Secretary
(Washington, D.C.) – Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa today issued the following statement on the possible nomination of Rep. Ray LaHood, R-IL, as Transportation Secretary:
“Congressman Ray LaHood has been a long-time, strong ally in the Teamsters’ unwavering fight to stop unsafe Mexican trucks from traveling freely throughout the United States.
“As a moderate Republican, he has been a friend to the Teamsters Union on a number of important issues, including funding for Amtrak.
“We are anxious to meet with him and assist in any way we can to advance President-elect Obama’s agenda to rebuild America, improve the safety and efficiency of our transportation system and create millions of good jobs.”
