Keegel Celebrates Accomplishments of Women at TNBC

Teamsters General Secretary-Treasurer C. Thomas Keegel helped celebrate Women’s Day at the 35th annual Teamsters National Black Caucus (TNBC) Conference in Washington, D.C. when he addressed 600 participants with his own story of how women have influenced his life.

“The TNBC and the Teamsters Union as a whole have been made stronger by the accomplishments and dedication of women who work tirelessly for our cause,” Keegel said. “I have been personally influenced by very strong women in my family. Like our president, I was partially raised by my grandmother and I know I wouldn’t be where or who I am today without the support of my wife and three daughters.”

The second-annual TNBC Women’s Day is designed to acknowledge, appreciate and respect women within the labor movement and the TNBC who work hard both in the home and at work each day.

Women at the conference were asked to wear red as a way to celebrate themselves and will participate in a luncheon celebrating Clara Day, the first black female Teamster on a local union executive board.

“The work women do is never easy and the contributions they have made to our movement are unforgettable,” Keegel said. “We support women and we thank them for all that they do.”
