Local 808 Hosts Stewards Seminar

On June 10, Local 808 in Long Island City, New York, hosted a stewards seminar with both new stewards and members participating in the program. The training, conducted by  Bill Munger, Eastern Region Coordinator of the Teamsters Training and Development Department,  focused on the roles and responsibilities of the steward and, in particular, the grievance process.

Chris Silvera, Secretary-Treasurer of Local 808, welcomed the participants and thanked them for taking the time to attend.

"We’re glad to provide this seminar to our new stewards and also members who are interested in the role of the steward," Silvera said. "I’m sure you will find this information valuable.”

The stewards did find the information helpful and enjoyed participating in the various exercises and group discussions. All expressed interest in attending future seminars.

"The information provided me with a better understanding of the grievance process," said Rodney Smith. "The group interaction with other stewards was very useful."

"The entire seminar was great; I found everything useful,” said Stephen Childs.  "I was particularly interested in the real life scenarios that were used as examples.”
