In Memoriam: WV Labor Hall Of Honor Teamster Grover Marion
The Teamsters Union mourns the loss of former Local 175 President Grover Marion who passed away on Sunday, Aug. 14 at the age of 89.
Marion, a native of Summers County, West Virginia, started his Teamster career driving trucks for Kroger. He began his service at Local 175 as a business agent in 1968. In 1974, Marion became Secretary-Treasurer of the local, and he served in that capacity until being elected Local 175 President in 1986.
“The labor movement lost a true champion with Grover Marion’s passing,” said Ken Hall, International Vice President and current President of Local 175. “He was my business agent when I was a rank and filer and later gave me my first chance as a business agent. Throughout his career he tirelessly fought for the working men and women of West Virginia. We all owe him a debt of gratitude.”
