  • The Teamsters Union, and trade unionists around the world, recognize April 28 as Workers' Memorial Day — a day to honor the working men and women killed and injured on the job and to fight for worker safety. To help mark this important day, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) is providing the following resources to help with the planning of activities at local unions and workplaces.

  • Department staff members have been very involved in discussions and meetings concerning various occupational safety and health issues, e.g., hexavalent chromium exposure among airline mechanics, silica exposure in the construction industry, the combustible dust standard, back-over injuries and fatalities, crane and derrick operator certifications in the construction industry, worker exposures to carcinogens, safety and health hazards in the solid waste and recycling industry, and worker exposure to cement dust.

  • Give your thoughts on distracted driving and enter to win an iPAD.

  • Three years ago, Jody Johnson, a YRC Freight clerk and member of Sacramento’s Local 150, participated in a program on how to train others in hazardous material instruction.

  • The IBT Safety and Health Department will be conducting the following classes on Crane Operations at Teamsters Local 682 in St. Louis.
