Workers Seek Fair TreatmentDecember 21, 2006 On December 20, shuttle drivers and cashiers at Indianapolis International Airport voted 50-3 to join Local 135. The shuttle drivers and cashiers work at British Airways Authorities Inc., LLC. There are 70 workers in the bargaining unit. “We are extremely excited to open up organizing opportunities at the Indianapolis airport which is primarily non-union,” said Brian Buhle, Secretary-Treasurer of Local 135, based in Indianapolis. “Organizers Jeff Combs and Mike Gillespie worked hard on this election as the results indicate.” “The workers are tired of the way management treats them,” Combs said. “They get treated unfairly. They work 12 to 14 hours a day with low pay. They want to be treated with fairness, respect and dignity, and they are seeking fair wages.”
