Central Region Vice President Walter Lytle retired from his positions at Teamsters Local 414 in Fort Wayne, Ind. and on the General Executive Board on December 31, 2009 after more than 43 years serving the Teamsters Union members in various roles.

“Walt Lytle has been a strong voice in our union during a career that has spanned five decades,” said Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa. “His contributions to our union have been innumerable, and I will miss his valuable counsel.”

Lytle began his career as at Teamster in 1966, working as a grocery selector. He was elected Secretary-Treasurer of Local 414 in 1984, a position he has held for the balance of his career serving the union. Lytle was elected to his post as a Central Region Vice President in 1996.

Lytle has also been a key member of the National Master Freight Agreement negotiating committee since his election to the General Executive Board, helping shape this important contract that protects thousands of Teamster members.

Founded in 1903, the Teamsters Union represents more than 1.4 million hardworking men and women in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.
