(LAS VEGAS) -- Vice President Joe Biden said today at the Teamsters’ 28th International Convention that unions are the only institution protecting the middle class from assault by concentrated power and wealth.

Vice President Joe Biden acknowledged it wasn't a political event, but it still didn't prevent him from sending this warning to Teamsters union members during his address at their annual convention in Las Vegas this past Friday.

Vice President Joe Biden credits organized labor with helping him win a U.S. Senate seat and the vice presidency. Now he’s looking for Teamster support to return him and President Barack Obama to the White House in 2012.

Security will be tight on Day Five of the 28th International Brotherhood of Teamsters Convention as Vice President Biden caps off an exciting five days in Las Vegas.

Tom Keegel took the stage yesterday to chants of “Keegel! Keegel! Keegel!” by delegates and guests who knew it was the last time they would hear him address a Convention as the Teamsters’ beloved General Secretary-Treasurer.

(LAS VEGAS) -- A resolution to support high-speed rail and the union jobs that should go with it was passed today by delegates to the Teamsters 28th International Convention with full support from its 70,000-member Rail Conference.

Teamsters attending the 28th International Brotherhood of Teamsters Convention can add to their autograph collections on Thursday as brother and boxer Micky Ward holds an autograph-signing session. A former WBU light welterweight champion, Ward’s story was featured in last year’s Oscar Award-winning film, “The Fighter.”  As a proud member of Teamsters Local 25, he can expect a rapt audience.

Fighting back against escalating attacks by extremist, corporate-backed politicians was the focus of day three of the 28th International Convention. Some of the Teamsters’ most politically active leaders emphasized that it’s essential to raise money to counter the vast resources of anti-worker billionaires and Wall Street CEOs.
