CDL Training Programs

In the near future, the Teamsters National Education and Training Fund will offer regional training programs. In the meantime, we can direct you to alternative resources to earn a Commercial Drivers License (CDL). A CDL is a requirement for obtaining a union position with a major or local freight carrier covered under the National Master Freight Agreement.

The Professional Truck Driving Institute (PTDI) is our training provider of choice. Their training program is the model for the development of our own National Training Program. The Teamsters have participated in PDTI and our local union Teamsters driving programs are certified by this organization. The Teamsters have also been involved in the development of PTDI's training standards and we have Teamster trainers who sit on their Board of Directors. PDTI has programs in most states and Canada.

For those Teamster members looking to upgrade their skills there are programs available through many local unions to acquire CDL training. To participate in these programs you must be a current Teamster member in good standing.
