Wal-Mart Workers Unite!

About the Campaign

Welcome to Wal-Mart Workers Unite, the website dedicated to Teamsters organizing at Wal-Mart distribution centers, Wal-Mart driving units, and Sam’s Club Stores.
John Williams
Warehouse Division Director

Workers who choose Teamsters representation gain the power of the strongest, most recognized union in the United States: The Teamsters represent nearly 200,000 warehouse workers, drivers and club store employees throughout the country. Those workers have gained the right to union representation in their workplaces and the ability to negotiate collective bargaining agreements with their employers that protect their wages, benefits, working conditions and job security.

Wal-Mart workers deserve the same representation: As the world’s most modern and efficient distribution and retail system, Wal-Mart should be held to the highest labor standards for treatment of its employees. Based on Wal-Mart’s profitability, the company should be expected to set the gold standard in terms of wages and benefits.

At present, that’s not the case.

Here’s why: Even though Federal Labor Law provides absolute protection to workers who exercise their right to organize a union, Wal-Mart has viciously fought union organizing efforts, especially those that took place on a shop by shop, workplace by workplace basis.

That’s why it’s critical for Wal-Mart workers from coast to coast to organize into a strong union – winning union representation rights at numerous Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club facilities throughout the U.S. and Canada. That’s how Wal-Mart employees will gain the leverage to negotiate with the company for a national contract that provides security for themselves and their families.

Wal-Mart has used its profits to fund phenomenal growth for several years.  It’s now time for Wal-Mart workers to gain a fair share of the profits they help produce.

Join us as we begin the process of building a stronger, fairer, safer workplace by organizing Wal-Mart.
